Second question is would it make sense to use White Dove on all the trim (baseboards, windowsill, garage door), fireplace mantle and ceiling or should we go with Simply White and just stick with White Dove on the kitchen cabinets?
Or should we continue White Dove all the way up? We were thinking of painting the ceiling all the way up with the White Dove versus Simply White. We’re painting our oak cabinets BM White Dove. In fact, it is included as one of the Sherwin Williams top 50 paint colors, because it is so popular among homeowners and designers. Shoji White is not a pure white which makes it very versatile. Our floor is 90’s beige’ish tile with gray grout. Shoji White is a beautiful off-white paint color by Sherwin Williams. Sherwin Williams Origami White is a chameleon and I will explain why by addressing the undertones of this paint color. Looking out from the kitchen you see our raised marbled red brick fireplace (grays, blacks, reds, whites) with vaulted ceiling. Our kitchen/living room/dining room is open concept. Paints with a lower LRV will appear darker than paints with a higher LRV. It has a slightly greige undertone which helps it. Origami White is still on the neutral spectrum of whites and would be considered an off-white. I usually recommend it for homeowners who want a crispy or sharp contrast with other deeper colors in some rooms or spaces. If you want something a bit warmer than Creamy then we recommend Sherwin Williams Dover White SW 6285 because it offers a lot of that same warmth without quite as much depth.
